I know it has been a LONG time since you have heard from me! I decided to work one day a week last year and spend the rest of the time at home with our three-year-old. I ended up writing much more and staying current with recent parenting research. I also read almost every parenting book out there!
Some really exciting things happened over that year! I ended up writing some articles that went “viral;” one of which was published in the The Atlantic Magazine. In the writer world, that’s equivalent to getting work in The New York Times (my next target!). I had the pleasure of hosting a local TV show on Rogers Channel 13 called “Connecting With Your Child.” This show airs several times during the week, with new ones coming out Tuesday nights at 7:30pm. (Thank you to Ryan Yeo and the team at Blackfriar’s Salon & Spa for styling my hair and teaching me how to take care of it! Also to Fisher & Company for helping me pick the outfits for the show.)
And this fall, I was thrilled to be invited to join the team of CTV’s The Social which airs live daily at 1:00pm. My debut appearance was Tuesday, Oct. 1st and there is a link online to view that show if you like. I have also been busy presenting at schools and conferences around Ontario. Oh, and my first article in a print magazine is out in this month’s FREE edition of Walmart Live Better Magazine called, “You can’t get me.” This article is about bully-proofing kids at all ages & stages.
BUT I miss you!
I am really looking forward to hosting two parenting workshops over four evenings/ days this fall.
For parents of young ones (0-4): Thriving With A Toddler Parenting Workshop
This is a day workshop 9am to 3pm where I will go through all things that make parenting this age challenging, and how to thrive through those challenges. I won’t be able to make life easier for you, but I can certainly give you tools and information to better prepare you for the tough times this age can bring. This information will give you a boost, communication skills, a calming plan, strategies for when kids don’t “listen,” a better outlook, and very likely, more cooperative little ones. And of course, how to handle tantrums. I promise to make you laugh and serve you awesome food. We will have a caterer for lunchtime!
Dates: Saturday, Oct 26 and again on Saturday, November 16.
For parents of school-aged children (ages 5-12): Reducing Battles With Your Kids – Parenting Workshop
This is an evening workshop that will address all the things you and your kids fight about—including sibling fights! Dawdling, arguments, poor grades, activities, too much screen times (those damn phones!), bedtimes, etc. I will explain what is happening in a power struggle and how to end them. I will also give you tricks and tools to invite your children to cooperate and “listen” better.
Dates: Wednesday, Oct 23 and again on Wednesday, November 20. 7-9pm (Good) Wine will be served—make this a fun date night!
-All workshops are located at 829 Richmond St (2 doors north of our medical clinic) There is a nice big parking lot in the back.
*Teachers, these workshops are eligible for Professional Development funding—please ask your principal if you are able to access PD $ in your school. I will provide a receipt with my credentials/ reg number.
Hope to see you soon, and if I don’t, very best wishes to you,
